New r50 owner

Hello

I just picked up a nice used 2006 r50 5 speed for myself over the weekend! Paid $4000 for her, felt like it was a good deal 112,000 miles. The plan is to commute with her for the winter and then autox it in h street next year! The car is a very base model basically no options, keeping it light weight 😎. Going to go threw the brakes and fluids this weekend, k & n drop in filter and a mcs rear sway bar on the way already. In the past I have had a gsr integra, mkv gti (Fahrenheit edition), ap1 s2000 and currently still have my e39 m5 (getting a rest this winter as the mini takes over). Here a quick shot of it the day I picked it up.

The plan is

Mcs rear bar
Mini one front bar
Mcs Springs
Koni yellow struts
Kosei k4r 16x6.5
Undecided on tires
Custom cat back
K & n drop in

Welcome to NAM! If you plan to autox the car, brakes and suspension is a good place to start. While going through, maybe even look into some SS brake lines. Also, look into ATE Typ 200 brake fluid. I use it for track and daily use. Been super happy with it. Let me know if you have any questions! How aggressive of tires are you wanting?

Thanks for the tips, I don't think SS brakes lines are legal in H street though. For now she is in winter mode, I will be throwing a set of Blizzaks on it for the next few month, thinking about 205 size Direzza star spec zII's for the autox season

Ah yes, important to look at your rules. I do TT/TA so SS lines aren't a determining factory for me. I run Blizzaks for winter, great winter tire. Did a lot of snow drifting/donuts in parking lots with those tires. Good choice on tires. I run the ZII's as a daily tire and the Nitto NT05's as my track tires. I actually prefer my ZII's over my NT05's. I'm almost done with the Nitto's so I may look at alternatives or just get a set of ZII's if I don't get some help from a buddy to get in with a possibly sponsorship with TOYO. Not holding my breath though haha.
