Advice for a dead Mini

I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S (R56) with a dead transmission. This is a huge bummer because I put a new engine into it last year. At this point I'm ready to move on but wondering if anyone has advice on whether I should fix it before I tried selling it. My mechanic said I would only get $1500 as is but it would cost around $8500 for a new transmission and used prices are hovering around $10,000 in Seattle where I live. Alternatively I could try to part out the car - the engine has under 10,000 miles and is still under warranty - but don't have any leads on that. Wondering if any of you have advice on the best way to proceed, or if any of you are in the market for a nearly new engine

Welcome to NAM. Might have some luck posting in this section of the forum. You might be able to save some money on the job if you drop the transmission, have someone open it up and fix it, then re-install it yourself. Parting out a car can take a long time. Might not be worth your time if you're wanting money right away. Good luck!

Way I'm sure you could use uship to get him the trans. They have pretty decent shipping charges for large items like these. At the old shop I worked at we shipped a transmission using them. Good pricing.

We have a transmission here new , but you might find used in the So Cal area where there are a bunch on MINIs. Call some used car parts / breakers places down there. Thats where I would start.

New with core. 24007609181

Hmm could be something. Way, PM me if you might be interested in parting with a transmission or acquiring an engine.

Sorry to hear that you have had so many problems with the car.

If you've got the mechanical aptitude and the time to consider doing a part out. Then perhaps DIY the transmission.

The idea of offloading the thing for $1,500 has merit as well.

Good luck!
