rear wheel bearings

I suspected a bad bearing when I bought this car. Mechanic lady dealt with put it on hoist and put scope on front wheels, said they sounded fine. Possibly a rear wheel bearing. Is there any way to test for that?

With the car in the air, see if the wheel has play in it. This is the easiest way to see if the wheel bearing is bad. Could still be bad if no play is felt, but this is an easy first step.

Thanks!

Listen and spin the wheel on the lift or rack and compare it to the other side, listen for a low grumble noise and you can sometimes feel the roughness of the bearings while you spin it.

For Gen 1 MINI the year split was in 7/2006 production for the part numbers . So keep that in mind.

too late

Got aftermarket bearings shipped, good, needed larger diameter bolts..bad.
Live and learn. Bolts overnight delivery will be done in the morning. Gotta watch, lots of vendors say exact fit, which they may be, doesn't mean it'll go back together.
