Waiting for Spring
Waiting for Spring
My R52 Mini is currently sitting under a cover, in an unheated garage, with the battery charger on. Best timing to get her out in the sunshine is April. That just means I spend a lot of time online looking at parts that I "need/want". I only wish the US/CDN dollar exchange was better
.
I'm looking forward to staying involved in the forum.

I was chatting with a guy from Edmonton who drives his MINI all year 'round. His is a hardtop which, I would imagine, is a little better for winter driving than a rag-top. Just get two, big, knobby tires for the front and go full-Hoonigan-snowplow. Somebody up there in Alberta will have a truck to pull you out of the snow drift.
Mine has been in the garage since it started dumping snow a few weeks ago. I'd be out in it but its the salt that I hate. In the meantime, I'm doing some maintenance that takes a while.
Current plan is to go to Saskatchewan (for my American friends think North Dakota but further north) at Easter and then bring the little blue beast home to Calgary, about a 7 hour drive. Travel criteria is a temperature above 7 degrees Celsius (45 Fahrenheit). Fingers crossed.

Spring has arrived! Put the battery back in and started her up. Other than some fluid underneath (looks like engine oil, but I know I have a power steering leak) and a strangely flat tire which need to be investigated everything seems to have come through the -40 temperature OK.
I took a picture before I went for a drive, as she was going to be dirty when I got back.

Nice,

Yea, double check the air in the tires and when it warms up top down is a must. Some people would already have it down with snow on the ground.
