First of all, excuse my bad english

I just bought a Mini cooper s R56 (2007).

First impressions : very fun car and too fast for its size

The very first thing I'm thinking about is a deep detailing because it's really dirty (as you can see ..)

I'll also dip the rims and maybe restore the headlights !

I'll explore the forum to get as much info as I can

Looks like you found a JCW equipped MINI. It has the JCW aero package. Does it has the engine performace package also?

After you polish it up well, it will make you smile even bigger when you see it each day.

What do you mean by engine performance package ?
it seems fast (175 HP), but I would like to make it faster ..
any suggestions ?

 

You will learn much about your MINI reading this forum, other MINI forums, and finding a few books on MINIs. Learning is part of the fun of owning this car.

The JCW (John Cooper Works - John Cooper race prepared Minis in the 1960's and built F1 cars, winning the World Championship) package is an upgrade that was once dealer installed and is now mostly factory installed. There were 3 areas of improvements: 1) appearance/aero package that included front and rear bumpers and rocker panel, 2) suspension/brakes - springs, struts, and larger front brakes, and 3) engine - better air box/filter, bigger turbo charger, better ECU program, more free flowing exhaust. There are some differences year to year.

Some JCW cars have all the upgrades, some only in one area. Your car has the JCW aero package. If it has the engine package, there should be a JCW emblem on the valve cover.

Drive and enjoy the car while you are learning about it. Before modifying it, research and followup on all of the issues realting to the N14 engine - such as carbon build up on the intake valves and better timing chain and guides. The previous owner should have had the timing chain replaced, but best to check.

 

Thank you so much for you reply. Indeed the owner told me that he has replaced the timing chain kit after some issues and noises.
It seems that this engine (N14, by peugeot) is a disaster( Fuel pump, engine overheat, cold rattles, etc) !! as people say on forums..
