from little Belgium
our first mini came in 1968, in 1982 we dared to buy a completely custom one:engine, suspension , bodywork.
In 2002 we bought the "new" mini and now we got for a countryman.
The first minis were sheer horror, the finish was subzero.
The first new mini had zero problems and we sold it after 6 years.
The CM has to prove his qualities.
In Belgium the prices and taxes are among the highest of the world. And a speed ticket will easily cost a few hundred $.
I hope to learn a lot from our american friends.

Good luck with your new MINI. Lots of GREAT information on NAM along with friendly people, though I'm afraid you are on your own when it comes to deciding how far to push the gas pedal down.
Hey welcome to the forum!
I just bought my wife a Countryman S in May. It is auto with sunroof, heated seats, HK radio. She loves it (me, not as much, but then I have a hardtop that I love).
I believe pictures are now called for of your new baby.
Mike
