So after doing the DIY John Cooper Works style intake conversion today and duct taping the intake tube (temporary until I get a new one) I honestly think the hole in my intake tube is why my car runs weird. It is better but I don't think the tape does an excellent job of patching the hole.
Actually, does anyone know how to patch an intake hole? I wonder if I should do that or just buy a new one.
This is what I did for the most part (pictures below of what I did different): https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ir-intake.html
and here is the filter I used:
Amazon.com: Uni 2 3/4in. ID Straight (70mm) Two-Stage Pod Filter - 4in. Length UP-4275ST: Automotive
Also got my subwoofer grill in today to protect the sub I installed yesterday.
Here is how I swissed up the cowl wall

And swiss intake box

and all put back together you can hardly tell anything was done

I would just buy a new one, get a silicone tube for more flow. How's the charger whine with the new intake mod?
Bought a new one from the deal ship this morning. The car runs amazing now! Better than when I bought it a few weeks ago :-)
The new intake is awesome! More power. Quiet when driving normal and loud when I push it.

Tomorrow the car is getting:
-an oil change (got a fluid evacuator for top side oil changes),
-new low beam bulbs (last owner changed one, so one is purple and one is whitish)
-install the RX65 radar detector with a direct wire kit. I'm hoping to install it to the right of the rear view
Next week all the chrome and white will get painted black and if I can figure out how to pull the horrible fake metal interior pieces I will paint them black too.

Oil change done and headlights replaced. Quick question... Why is the service reset to 15,500 miles? Wouldn't you change the oil WAY before that?
Vendor - Detroit Tuned 15 Years
The dealer recommended interval was "15,000 miles" but that is based on fuel consumption. So if you drive the car hard it will drop sooner than if you drive like a old lady, but if you do drive conservatively that "15,000" miles can actually stretch out to around 18,000.
We recommend sticking to 5,000 mile intervals to everyone we deal with. The filters are too small for such high mileage intervals, and once the filter reaches capacity it is bypassed and the engine begins to cycle unfiltered oil.

Thank you nkfry.
Question. Where would I find the fog light brackets that come out of the grill? I want to maybe get some LED fogs loaded up on there.

I had these on when I purchased the car, I believe they have heavier duty brackets also. Mine became a little floppy from closing the bonnet.

Thank you! I'm going to have to pick some up after I figure out what fog lights I want.
This weekend I want to paint my belt light but can't figure out if it just snaps off and pops back on. And I want to paint my emblems, door handles, "aluminum" dash pieces, and other chrome bits.

Welcome.

New issue. I got caught driving in some really heavy rain some kinda splashy puddles and all. And now my shifter sounds rattley when I shift into any gear.

Check the shift linkage from the shifter lug to the top of the transmission housing.

Thanks

Thanks
The noise went away about an hour after letting it sit. I'm guessing something just got wet
OK haven't updated anything on here in a while. So I replace the LCA bushings with the Powerflex ones because the stock ones were beyond shot, noticed a little better gas mileage. While I was under there I noticed that the oil pan is.... kinda wet. So this month I'm going to:
Replace the Oil Pan Gasket
Replace the Crank Position Sensor O Ring
Oil Change... duh
Replace the PCV Valve
Replace the Serpentine belt
Replace the Dampened Crank Pulley with a 2% overdrive on from ATI (depending on funds)
If above is replaced I'll do the crank seal gasket while I'm in there.
Replace the fuel filter (when does the pump need to be replaced?)
and retighten the hardwiring for my radar detector

Ok so far I have everything except for the harmonic balancer so I'll be doing all that this Friday or Saturday

Thanks Matt!
I only had about an hour this morning so I swapped out the fuel filter... holy crap what a massive difference that made. Not sure how old the old one was but it was dirty.

Replaced the oil pan gasket and crank position sensor o ring also changed the oil at the same time.
Today I'm getting my alignment done after getting some new tires put on and the alignment was way off.
Still need to figure out to clean the garbage off of the bottom of the car from all the oil that was leaking out but everything seems pretty scary.
