HELP: Mini Dealership v. Mom & Pop place

Are there any benefits to be had from buying a used Mini Cooper from a Mini dealership versus from a local "Mom and Pop" lot?

Got mine at a mom/pop shop and saved 1000'$ If your not sure of the condition, take it to the mini dealer and pay them $50 for an inspection before buying it.

Buy your MINI where ever you find it if it is the perfect fit. If you have a range of options/colors/trims that are acceptable, shop - shop - shop. Do your homework and be ready to walk away. The dealer will cost more. Get ANY car inspected by a shop that knows MINIs or the dealer. It will cost more than $50 (in my area), but at 4x the price.... it is worth it.

If you purchase a used Mini under the dealerships program called Mini Next Certified Pre-Owned program. The dealer typically has to pay Mini a nominal fee to certify the car which may trigger fixing of wear and tear items-- i.e tire replacement IF under a certain tread wear. It also extends the warranty to 100,000 but coverage is not fully as the original. The dealer will typically use it for vehicles recently off lease and needs to be less than 60,000 miles. That said, the exact vehicle may be less expensive outside the dealership but the Mini Next financing thru the dealership may be better than most independent banks. Check out the link for details. (as of this post, I see APR as low as 0.9% for 2010/2011 and 1.9% for 2012 for 60 months with a first month credit of $350 towards first payment)
