Welcome to NAM! Sorry to hear about your expenses & repairs - but they happen on any car. Granted, parts & labor may be more expensive since you can't or shouldn't take your baby to any old shop that wrenches Toyotas or Fords, but hopefully you feel the trade off is worth it.

I remember sinking close to $1000 in my old Camry (prior to buying my MINI) and thinking "UGH! Do I have to?!" But a car is a requirement where I live - no public transport to be found. With my MINI, it's different. These cars have soul and character, and I have an honest-to-god emotional attachment to mine. The investment in upgrades, preventative maintenance, or necessary repairs is just holding up my end of the deal for all the miles of smiles & wicked good times I get in return.

Premium gas, tires, parts & labor for a Euro car are more expensive, but to me it's the price of admission. One I'm willing and (thankfully) able to pay.

Hope you're back on the road soon, and happy motoring!

Glad to hear to are back on the road. I would check to see if your PS pump fell under the recall. I don't know your mileage but a quick call to your local MINI dealership to see if you fall under it.

More info here:

Thanks and hope that helps. If you need anything in the future let me know.

Yes it did but the dealer said it only covered $500 of the $1300 - much less costly the way I did it. But thanks for the info.
