Couple questions.

Still waiting on my 03 cooper to get out of the shop so I can't post pictures of exactly what I'm asking about.

But, I'm impatient.

I have the dual moon roofs. However on the rear moon roof I can't figure out how to operate it. Above the rear seats is a hole with some wiring that can be seen. I guess this was once the rear moon roof control?

If so whats the best way of replacing this control?

Now, On my key the casing is cracked to where the chip inside is visible and my remote unlock/lock buttons aren't working. My question is do you think if I ordered an uncut casing is there a chance my buttons might work? And if not whats the best ways of tracking down a new remote entry? The mini dealer? Third party products?

Also,

On the passenger side trim of the exterior. There is a small piece missing at the corner where the windshield meets the roof. Best place to find a replacement piece?

I'll post pics tomorrow. Can't wait to get her back. Love the site.

I don't think the rear moon roof on a 2003 opens. If it does, let me know...

Between the backs of the rear seats on the headliner should be the dome light. Down by the emergency brake handle you would have TPMS reset button, exterior mirror controls, and heated seat buttons towards the shifter...if it's a manual.

Right side pillar trim. Get it fixed...

pretty sure the 1st gen mini's you can buy a remote on ebay and get it programmed pretty cheap by a locksmith. I priced a remote with convience package for my second gen at the dealership and its going to cost about 375.

Top photo, not sure what that piece is called, but get it fixed. It's letting in water and weather otherwise...

So yeah...bottom photo is where your moonroof controls should be...

On 1st gen Minis, only the front sunroof can be tilted or opened. The rear sunroof is stationary. That hump on the roof houses the remote locking sensor IIRC, but don't quote me on that.

I don't know much about fixing the key, but I do know that that corner piece is pretty hard to find despite it being commonly missing on 1st gens. You can buy them brand new, but not by themselves; that corner piece can only be bought if it's attached to the a-pillar trim or the gutter trim. You can also check the NAM marketplace or eBay to see if can get one from someone parting out their car. That's how I lucked up on mine (my car was missing both pieces when I got it). It's a cosmetic piece, so it's not a big deal if you don't replace it for a while. Good luck on finding one and congrats on your new car!
