Just bought a GP!
Just bought a GP!
I'm not a new member to the site as I had a JCW back in 2011 but I'm more of a reader than a poster. I decided to make a new post here because I have to share my excitement with fellow Mini owners.
I bought a 2013 JCW GP today and I LOVE it! Got some pics here for anyone interested.
My CTS-V that I traded in for the GP. She will be missed

Lunch after the dealership

Cruising around, breaking her in, with a big cheese smile.

Yeah, I'm curious about that, as well... was it the cost of gasoline? That is one cool beast of a car.
Nice GP though!

Thanks for all the congrats.
If y'all ever get the opportunity to drive a V I definitely recommend taking it. Car truly is a beast! The whine that charger makes under WOT is just seductive. The car pulls freakishly hard too.
In response as to why I sold it jonnieoh got part of it right with the cost of gasoline lol. When buying the car I knew it got terrible gas mileage. However, knowing it (with the reality fogged by my excitement of my new car) and living it were much different. I figured the ratings were pessimistic but low and behold I didn't average any higher than 14 mpg.
I could look past the pump if everything else was perfect but to be honest the car just had something missing for me in the fun department. There's no doubt for the money one would be hard pressed to find a car at that price point that is as optioned out, spacious, sexy, and fast as the V. When looking at a car I look at the big picture and this car is the closest I've ever gotten to having my cake and eating it too. With that said on a regular basis when I drove the car I missed my JCW. I think really what it came down to was the size of the car that made me sell it. Everyone looks for different things out of their cars. Weight is a BIG deal for me. Coming from a motorcycle background, being lightweight and agile are on the top of my list. Yea the mini is only a third the HP of the V but take them both to deals gap and which one would have me smiling bigger?
Don't get me wrong I loved having a 600 HP daily driver with cooled seats and 4 doors but at the end of the day no car has me smiling bigger than my Mini. After all, that's what it's all about right?
Btw I had an APR stage 2 GTI damn near 300 HP before the V and even then I missed my mini. Car is just the perfect fit for me I suppose.

very nice car. I am really new to the world of mini's (only 2 months) and I can't see myself driving anything else for a long while. I really hope the next gen aren't as ugly in real life as they look with a telephoto lense.
I know right? I was very disappointed with the next gen photos on left lane news. Even if it does look better in person I wouldn't be interested in one until the early gremlins are worked out so that makes for around 2 more years of enjoying this generation. I'm also hoping they don't jump on the band wagon of getting porkier. I read its suppose to be bigger than this gen...
