Hi from Seacoast NH

Not exactly an owner yet, but I am working on it. I have been stuck in a minivan for 8 years and my wife and I were just looking at the mini lot for fun after hours the other night when she decided that I deserved a fun 2nd car. She takes good care of me!

Anyway, she had her thoughts of an S... Of course I made the error of driving the JCW and as much as I would rather that, it doesn't feel right to beat her up talking her into spending another $4k (basic JCW with Zenon).

Trying to decide today/tomorrow so I can get order in and hopefully get the car before plant shutdown in August. If I get the S, looking at the pepper white with black roof along with the JCW exterior package (with sport suspension) and will have the dealer add the cat back JCW exhaust.

Either way, I will probably have the dealer add a clear bra. Waste of money?

Any thoughts from those who maybe "settled" buying an MCS?

Great site, looking forward to becoming more active.

Clear bra

While I don't have a clear bra on my car, I think it's a decent investment. I opted to skip it figuring I wouldn't want to see the edge of it along the hood, but after a few years I now have some pretty unsightly rock chips in the paint that the bra would probably have prevented. So in hindsight I wish I would have added the clear protection. The MINI hood is low and blunt, which makes rock chips pretty common. I do have clear protection on my lights, and they have remained clear and smooth so I think the product does work as intended.

Thanks, hadn't considered the headlamps. Called and they said they can do that for $50; sounds well worth it.

I'd also see if they can do the foglamps if you are getting those (should be cheap, as they are small and easy). I actually did my headlamp lenses myself after buying a roll of the clear film for the fog lamps after one broke from a rock. Access to the fogs for replacement is just enough of a pain that I wanted protection, so I got the film and then figured why not do the headlamps with the extra? If your dealer will do them, go that route - the fogs are an easy DIY but the curve of the headlamps makes them quite tricky.

Hi there,

I would strongly encourage you to get the clear bra. I had one on for 3.5 years, and then recently had the JCW Aero kit installed. I had them add it to my new front bumper as well. The front of the car is in much better shape then it would have been if I had chosen not to have it installed.

Great color choice by the way!

Cheers!
~Matt

Thanks, I am tired of gray cars.... They look great, but everyone seems to have one these days. I like your sport stripes; trying to decide between them and the bonnet stripes.

Huskyfan, welcome to NAM - great fellow enthusiasts here! Although the JCW package is a lot of fun to drive so is the S. Wouldn't be settling at all. Keep us up to date with pics too in a couple months!

Huskyfan I think I just spotted your 4 seater GP2 at Select Wood today.

You all need to like and join MINIs of New Hampshire Community/Group on Facebook.

Yup, that was me. Not exactly the best car to take to the lumber yard...

Will check out club stuff. Thanks!
