R53 ECU Remap Question
R53 ECU Remap Question
Hi - I recently acquired a 2004 R53 and I am looking to do some power upgrades. I plan on installing a cold air intake which seems straightforward, not quite ready for a pulley upgrade but am interested in an ECU Remap. In Seattle I have only seen 92 and 89 octane but the upgrade calls for 93 or 91 octane. Does anyone know if the 91 octane ECU upgrade will work with 92 octane gas?
YES
You can map a car for lower than the planed octane, but not higher.
A canned tune (non-dyno) will not get you much....maybe a bit.
With a pulley, and a custom dyno tune, you might hit 200 HP.
The further a car is from the stock, the MORE you gain from a tune. The closer to stock...the less the gain.
The MINI ECU is amazing adaptive...and actually does fine with a 15% pulley....

Hey Jasta12,
I was wondering which "canned tune" you decided to go with. I'm considering the madness stage 2 ecu. (URL below)

Since the Shark Injector apparently is a bad choice I was hoping you might have some suggestions on what you decided to use.
