I'm probably overthinking it, because the first-gen Miata wave is to pop the pop-up headlights without turning them on - obviously not an option in this car! But I can't tell from Braminator's handsome graphic if I'm supposed to flick the lights or if the dotted line just represents the Minis "seeing" each other.

In any case, I already shared an ordinary hand wave with another Mini while I was out on a test drive, so I feel like part of the family already!

I do a HEAD NOD or "mid" 5 (not hi or low). Easy for me to "adopt" because I have been doing it for decades riding bikes.

 

I usually do the one or two fingers off the steering wheel - its from driving the back roads of Ireland at 60mph: you know everyone so have to acknowledge them, but can't risk taking a hand off the wheel in case you need to put the car in a ditch to avoid a tractor / wide vehicle.

In the classic Mini community in Ireland the wave is actually a full arm out the window (always opened anyway for additional elbow room) with a full wave of the hand, usually while shouting 'howya' at the top of your voice!
