I'm new to this site and wanted to do my research before I purchase a used Mini cooper S. not sure what year or what model should I get. all I know is that Im looking for a mean sporty looking version with hard top .

I used to own an S2000, Evo, and I always wanted to get a mini cooper S, so now its them time.

would love find new friends on here and get some good advices, thanks,

Anyways, my response to your question would be look for an 05-06 S if you're tending toward the first gen or the 11+ (I believe) of the second gen. If you aren't sure if you want an R53 or R56, you should drive both to see which you like more. The R53 is generally described as feeling more like a gokart and you can't beat that supercharger whine (especially with a reduction pulley).

The sporty looking version you're referring to is probably the JCW, but you can look through the forums here to find the specific model you're looking for.

Also, the R53 is the 02-06 Hardtop S and the R56 is the 07+ Hardtop S

No problem. There are other models now, too, the clubman s, countryman s, cabrio s, coupe s, and roadster s. I was just feeling lazy at the time of my post so I just went the most basic route.
