Mini Ipod/Iphone question

Hey guys my mini has the aux input to plug in a iphone/ipod. Is there any upgrade i can use so I can control it using the controls on the steering wheel or dash? Its a 2011 mini cooper (non s).

in the middle more towards the passenger side there is the aux port and kinda underneath that to the left is a hole. I don't know if that is a usb slot? I took a pic of it with my phone to see if there was any writing around it but i didn't see any. Seemed alittle big to be a usb slot.
