My CM is waiting at the port as well. Been watching WW tracking pretty closely now for the past few days. Some of the cars that I see showing up are lagging. Today some vins close to mine showed up and when I clicked them they had left several days prior. Very erratic as to how they pop up on there. Here's to hoping mine was on the ship going out tomorrow not the one on the 30th.

That looks really cool! Was that your own signature? What kind of pen / paint do you use?

Frankly, I'm not putting a lot of faith in the WW site in terms of VIN tracking.. According to looking at VINs.. only 105 cars like my r55s were ever shipped over the past 3 years. I kinda find that hard to believe.

Check cargo WMWZG3C5XDTY%

Then again, I've only ever seen a few in the wild... ever.. so I guess its sort of rare..

It's not quite that rare - you're not wild-carding enough of the VIN.

Try query string WMWZG3C5%DT%

The first "%" wild-cards the VIN check digit (which can be anything from 0-9, plus X) and the second wild-cards the sequential part of the VIN. Searching on that string I get 1783 hits and all of those would be model year 2013 (the "D" in the VIN).

You could be on a Kline ship.

Also, and I'm not an VIN expert by any means, but I don't think the vins are sequential. The vin tells you a lot about the car from color to options. So searching a wildcard is only going to produce similar built cars. I am guessing this because I ran my vin through the NAM VIN Decoder, the link is in the left side bar.

The last six digits are a sequential serial number, although the character in position 12 varies and is sometimes a letter. There is no colour or option info in the VIN apart from which specific model it is (SV3 = Cooper S hardtop, ZG3 = Cooper S Clubman, etc.)

By plugging a VIN into a database that matches VINs to configs, you could pull up colour and options, but you you can't get that info from the VIN alone. For example, VIN WMWSV3C57DT478386 is only a few digits away from mine, but all you can tell from that VIN is that it's a 2013 Cooper S hardtop built for the North American market at the Oxford plant. Using the wild card search on the WW site shows the similarity of VINs pretty well.

I wasn't either but I have to occupy myself somehow while waiting for my car.

Thanks so much, that clears a lot of things up.. I could not imagine the car was "that rare".. (still, pretty rare when put up say a Camry.. )

BUT GOOD NEWS! SHES BOOKED FOR THE UNDINE on the 5/20th! Woop!

No longer waiting! We brought Rowan home from MINI of Mt. Laurel tonight & left the Lightning there. First time in 34 years that there hasn't been a Ford in the driveway.

Yeah, I know: pictures. I'll add more when I'm on the laptop.

There! Deleted the duplicate images that resulted from using the iOS app.

Yeah, I know: pictures. The NAM iOS app isn't allowing them. I'll add pics when I'm on the laptop. Oh wait, it did, while telling me that it didn't -- 3 times!
Nice! I've still got about three weeks left. Ship won't even be to the US until May 30!

Congrats on your new MINI. Rowan is very happy to take over the space previously owned by a Ford. Your MINI looks fantastic.

Rowan is already making himself home in the woods by acquiring a nice coating of oak pollen. His coating isn't as thick yet as his sister's, "The Sorento" but he has only been working on it for a few hours.

Who is on the Undine?
My CMS left Bremerhaven on May 15th and should arrive in Jersey City, NJ on the 30th. This is my second MINI. First was an '05 MCS Dark Metallic Silver that I had for 6 years. Loved that car! If I had a garage, I would have kept it forever. Dealt with a Honda CRV for the last 2 years and am very excited to be getting rid of it!

It is true that the 2nd time ordering one is tougher — you know the awesomeness that is traveling over the pond. With the MarineTraffic app on the iPhone it is even harder to not check where it is!

4/17/13 - Ordered
4/24/13 - Production started (5/2 schedule to finish)
4/30/13 - Body Shop
5/1/13 - Paint Shop
5/2/13 - build complete
5/3/13 - Released to carrier
5/7/13 - en route to port
5/9/13 - at the port
5/15/13 - in transit

Mine finished being built on the 15th, so I'm hoping that it will maaaaaaaaybe make it aboard the Faust, departing for California on the 21st. Did anyone else have a build done around the same time as me? The Faust comes into Port Hueneme on June 12th, and the next one after that doesn't arrive until June 26th. Fingers crossed.

My JCW was completed May 2, and it still hasn't moved to the port.

Guess I will throw my hat in the ring, here. Just ordered a JCW Countryman on Saturday. No idea when it will be here - I guess I will have a better idea in a week or two.
