oil change

I just joined. I dig my '04 liquid yellow mini with a white roof. What damage can be caused by the oil filter being installed upside down? Thought this might be my problem as after the oil and filter change the oil pressure light would come on at idle then go out after accelerating, but it stopped doing that after a short time. It's off now. 2004 Mini Cooper.

If it's a Cooper non S my guess is someone threw away the center plastic shaft that should be on the oil filter housing. It has a spring behind it and presses the filter down, if it's missing the light will come on. This is ONLY on the non S 2002-2004.
Here is a pic of what it should look like without the filter installed

Thanks, WMW. Yeah, the shaft is not there. Non S. The lights off now-do you think I'm ok. Also, it's overfilled by 1/4 inch. What do you think?
