My friend has a 2006 mini s, i did a brake job all the way around yesterday, now the cars parking brake is very loose, it will hold but there is no tension on it whatsoever, any help here would be awesome.
Thanks in advance, Steve

Two thoughts/questions:
When you compressed piston in the rear calipers, did you rotate them or just force them in?
Is is possible that the emergency brake cable slipped out of its holder on one of the rear calipers?

no i have the full rear caliper tool set, everything seemed fine when i was screwing them back in, both sides went on and together smoothly, when i went over the vehicle before leaving the garage and putting the tires back on everything looked normal, no hanging cables or anything, im kinda at a loss here, minis are not my specialty

My first thought is that maybe only one side is engaging (since it still holds but has no tension). Check the cables at the caliper end first, then check at the lever end.
