New MINI owner introduction

Hello all,
Picked up my new 2012 MCS on Wednesday evening. I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this site as it has been a great help during the wait for the new MINI to arrive. This is my first MINI and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience so far. I hope to start contributing to NAM as I learn more about this very fun car.
J

Okay, I like your Mini but LOVE your garage! ;-) Wish I had that clean a space to park mine in! Welcome to the forum and congrats.

Thank you. I am fortunate to have a large shed in the back yard where all of the junk goes.

Great colour choice in the garage. I also wish I had a garage like yours but with living in a big city, my apartment indoor parking space will just have to do.

New justacooper owner

Hello walk0080,

I ordered a justa mini cooper last month and it's in production this week. I'm so excited! I noticed that you have decided to purchase a new mini as well but opted to upgrade. Can you tell me some things you liked most about your 2008 mini cooper and what made you decide to upgrade?
I often wonder if I made the right choice in buying a justa cooper instead of a "S" model..
I'd really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!

Okay, now the cars not getting enough attention! LOL Sorry about that, the car is hot, truly. It just when you have a single car garage, bare studs, and lined with stuff & clutter, your really envious of a garage like yours!

Thank you all for the kind remarks. I actually have had the color scheme in the garage for a few years. The MINI just happened to match. Greentimemachine, that garage is looking pretty clean too. Walk0080, where is the setting for your picture in the city? It looks great!

I took delivery at a BMW dealership in downtown Toronto. The new MINI dealership was being built and they used the BMW dealership for all servicing. The BMW shop have a pick-up/delivery location that is 5 floors up facing the waterfront and the CN Tower. It was pretty neat - the BMW guy moved the car around several times so we could get the right shot and then we took a ride down with the car in a big elevator.

For us the S or JCW was always the long term plan (or some other sporty small car), but the justa-Cooper was a temporary 3-yr lease for my wife to learn to drive (with an auto-box) and for us to get a down payment saved up.

We initially planned for an 'S', but decided it was still affordable to get exactly what I wanted which was a decently optioned 'JCW'. We are keeping this next car for a while and I knew if I went for the S over the JCW, I would have buyers remorse.

If you drove the S and justa and were OK with the justa, don't worry about it. There is a price different between the models and you need to keep that in mind. There is a pretty significant performance difference with the S which IMO is worth it.

JEdwards, your garage floor is really nice. Where does the water from a wet car drain to?

Walk0080, thank you for the pics. Sounds like that was a great experience. Looking forward to hearing about the JCW.

Greentimemachine, some drains out the door but 90% is clean up.

Subzero, thank you. How is the process going with the tuning kit issue?

Your garage looks nicer than my house... The MINI is not too bad, either.
