How to auto raise windows

Here's a curious one. When I tap the window toggle switch the window lowers automatically, as it should. But when I do teh same to raise it, nothing happens, and I must press the switch all the time until the window raises. Clearly something wrong. Any suggestions how to fix this?

It's by design.

I have a 2004 Cooper S, and in the instruction manual it does state that simply tapping the window toggle switch when the window is in down position, it will automatically raise itself.

Probably needs to be reset. I don't know the reset procedure for a Gen 1, only Gen 2...and I don't know if it would even be the same procedure. Hopefully a Gen 1 owner will chime in, but the procedure on a Gen 2 is very easy.

Gen 2 Procedure.

Manually Raise the Window all the way up. Once up, release toggle, and then press up on the toggle again holding for 2-3 seconds. After 2-3 seconds, release toggle, and then the pressure sensor should be reset.

Nope, sorry. Only European models do it on an 04. As stated above, you will have to get an Auto-up

Auto up should work on an '04. (Engine must be running and works on drivers door only).

Here is a quote from the '04 owners manual page 28:

"
To open and close windows
From ignition key position 1:
To open:
Press the switch downwards.
The window opens until you release the
switch
or
briefly press the switch downwards.
The window opens automatically.
Pressing the switch again stops the operation.
To close:
Press the switch upwards.
The window closes until you release the
switch
or
with the engine running:
Briefly press the switch upwards.
The window closes automatically
.
Pressing the switch again stops the operation.

The window on the front passenger's
side cannot be closed automatically.<

Watch during the closing process to
be sure that no one is injured.<

After the ignition has been switched off:
You can continue using the electric power
windows for a limited period as long as no
one opens any of the doors.

If a door is opened during operation, the
opening/closing process stops immediately

Despite what the Owner's Manual says, it was disabled in all US spec 1st gen MINI.

It can probably be enabled through NCS Expert programming, or you can use an auto-up circuit: http://www.fes-auto.com/products_det...p?productid=35

If the windows were able to automatically go up on toggle tap, this circuit would not have needed to be put into production.
The only way to get it to work is if you: Buy this
