Help buying my first MINI
Hi! I am new to the mini forums and the mini world. I am based in Southern California, thinking of buying a MINI and I had a couple of questions that I was hoping seasoned mini owners could answer. I am wondering if there is a good way to get a deal on a mini? Do you have to pay the MSRP or is it possible to deal on price? Did any of you go through a broker? Also how do you feel about leasing vs. buying as I have not yet decided. I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Thanks
Thanks
I'd recommend going into a dealership being very familiar with the pricing specifics, MSRP'S, prices of the different packages available on the cars, etc. Just so that you know you won't get the short end of the stick. Not to sound arrogant, but I've corrected sales people on their prices simply by familiarizing myself with it beforehand, and they've actually acknowledged their mistakes. Being knowledgeable about what you're looking to at the dealership shows them you're interested. And don't be afraid to see how far they're willing to go, you don't get if you don't ask
Good luck! You might be able to easily stumble upon a good deal now that the 2012's are being built. Some dealers may be hurting to get some of the 2011's off the lot.
--Also, as far as leasing goes, I'd recommend it, especially for MINI's. I've heard/seen that they don't age too well, and keeping one only within the lease term I feel might be a good idea, just to protect yourself, anything goes wrong, it's also the dealerships problem because they're gonna be getting the car back. I got a $199/month lease on my cooper for 3 years with 12k miles/year. The warranty ends after 4 years on MINI's, and the service contract ends after 3 years. So, basically, I just pay the $199/month, keep it well maintained, and hopefully in 3 years the rates will be comparable and I'll just least another one. Keep us updated on your findings!
