Newbee here. My 2005 Mini stalled and would not restart. Turns over fine. When I turn key to position 2 I do not hear the fuel pump. Should I hear it pumping? Also pulled the fuel line from injector line and found no pressure. Both fuses ok. Should I be checking something else prior to hauling it to the $$$$$$ DEALER? Can I change the pump myself and should I disconnect Battery first or what precautions needed so I dont fry something. I do have the Bentley manual and have worked on most of my cars in the past but the Mini is new to me.

 

Check the fuses/relays first. You should hear the pump power up when key is flipped on.

Make sure to disconnect the battery before attempting the pump swap or changing your fuel filter.
