New Mini Owner

Hi all
New Mini owner here. Just purchased 2008 Cooper S 5/30. Happy to be here, more excited to be a Mini owner!
I already have an issue however, and wonder if anyone can be of assistance. With just 40k miles, the check engine light is on. Any suggestions since I can't take it into the shop until Monday morning?
Thanks and happy motoring!

Welcome, sorry to hear about the CEL. Was it on when you bought the car or when did it pop up?

i purchased the above to scan for codes and to delete codes myself.

it does various diagnostics and reads your obd or on board computer.

if i get a check engine light, i will scan the code and google the code for my car to see what the trouble is. i will delete the code and if it returns in a couple of days or sooner then i take it to the dealer.

this also helps me confirm the dealer or mechanic is confirming what i already know to be wrong with the car.

the connection is usually somewhere under the steering column.

it's good to have and you can use it on all modern cars i think starting from the early 90's. just make sure you get the obd II scanner and not just the obd scanner. the newer model reads more cars.
