2004 Mcs
2004 Mcs
Hi,
I just got a 2004 MCS, 34,700 miles. I think the color is called Lightening blue, with a blue (I think leather) interior. Heated seats, Xenon lights, trip computer....
How can I tell if the seats are leather? They look like it to me, but Ive heard the vinyl looks real.
So far I love it, I took it on one 350 mile road trip on 10.5 gallons of gas!! I didn't realize how bad the roads are here in town until I got this car!!
Enough talk here are some pictures!

that looks like the interior called "lapis blue' and yes it is leather ... I had that on my 02. I liked it alot but the leather finish was not of very high quality . . but I liked it SO much that it was the first time I sprung for leather in 20 new car purchases
tell-tails for leather are the stretching on the seat base and I think I see a bit of scratching on the side bolster for the driver's left side. Mine got chewed up there too - a lapis problem (I don't see a similar problem on my 07 with leather). I bought a dark grey sharpie and was able to make these scratches much less visible, but regular re-application was required. They didn't go away but faded & the 'fix' was about $2.50. Find yourself a good leather treatment NOW .... clean 'em first then start regular treatments, at least 4 times a year. I use Meguires (mostly cuz I've won bottles at car shows) but there are plenty of other good ones. Connolly is what the classic car folks swear by http://www.autogeek.net/colecakit.html
Your car has 17 inch wheels and low profile tires . . . you are gonna feel every bump. If you still have runflat tires you can soften the ride somewhat by replacing with 'regular' tires. But I encourage you to FULLY research the pro's and cons of ditching runflats.
My wife got home one night because of runflat tires . . . they saved her, and a spare tire would not have. Not to mention if you put reg' tires on your MINI, you don't have a spare . . .
Run flats are not a magic answer, but nor are they the anti-ch**** .>. know b4 you buy.
Welcome ... you poor sucker. I bought one on a whim and now have had 3 with 2 still in the garage.

Thanks for the info, there is def some scratching of the finish, I am going out to put the conditioner on the seats right now!!
I did a little reading about the run-flats, I most likely will replace with conventional tires and donut spare when these tires wear out. I also will most likely get some snow tires in the fall, although I don't plan on driving it too much in the winter.
The car is great to drive, and the kids don't complain too much about being crammed in the back seat because it's cool!
Thanks for the Kind words everyone
