New MA JustaCooper

Hey everyone,

New member here from Boston, MA area!

My wife has been wanting a MINI for *years*, so we finally took the plunge. She ended up with a pepper white with black roof & mirrors.

If you ever need any MINI help, Rich at Herb Chambers MINI in Boston was awesome to work with.

Needless to say, I'm really jealous of her car, and want my own. I'm slowly working on her to trade in my '09 Jetta TDI for a Clubman S!!! She tells me I'm nuts for wanting to be a two MINI family. Hopefully some of you can chime in to help talk her into it.

I am a two MINI family, what is there to be worried about? Can you put 14 cases of flooring and 2 people in your Jetta? because I can in my MINI! How about a pressure washer without taking it apart? We will be a 2 MINI family for a long time to come, we can't get enough of them.

My wife and I both have Minis as well. We have lots of fun with them. She has a All Black S with Red strips (that I added) and I have Pepper White w/Black Roof S.

I don't see any issues with having 2 Mini's in the family. As long as both of them are not exactly the same: color and options...no identical twins.

Welcome to the Mass MINI family. I have a '04 JCW out in the Grafton area. If you see another MINI on the road, be sure to wave, it might be me!

There is a Massachusetts Motoring Club (www.massmotoringclub.com) that has a few events every year. Fairly social group.

my wife has been driving it more than me.... But from what she's said, seems like all the dudes wave, the womenz don't.

She drives through Lincoln though on her commute, so that could have something to do with it.

My wife and I drive MINIs too. We also live 2 miles from mini-b10. It took 6 months for my wife to changer her mind and find a MINI she wanted.

I'd say two things...
1) Trade 'her' in on a Clubman S!!
2) Take her keys away...keep the MINI for yourself!!

Either way you WIN!!

I saw a mini in the rain today. The Red Chili mini was waiting on the light and waved at me! I waved back but the Mini prob didn't see me because of my tinted window. Mine is a silver grey MCS JCW.

Wow lots of MA people around here. I'm in Norwood with a Silver/white 03 MCS. Pretty common color scheme, but it looks nice

Good deal. A two mini family is all kind of awesome. I need to see if I can convince the fiancé to trade both cars up for Minis.

Congratulations and welcome from Wareham MA here.

As far as the two MINI family thing goes ...

At the welcome dinner at this years MINIs On The Dragon they did a Letterman style top 10 ways you know you have a MINI problem list. One of them was that you and your spouse each have your own MINI and you both drove them here separately. You wouldn't believe how many couples that applied to ... LOL

Just tell her to think of the money that you will be saving with gas. Even though your driving a VW, you will still get better mileage in the Mini. Try that.

Nope, won't work. I have a '09 Jetta TDI. I easily average ~42 mpg mixed driving. Commuting to/from work now, 180mi round trip of highway, I'll get 47...

Going from that to either a Hardtop S or Clubman S, the average fuel economy will be going down.

You could show her this picture. Of course you'd have to do the same 15 mile stretch of the mostly downhill stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway to duplicate the results. Admiral Rickover used to say "You should always tell the truth but you don't always have to be telling it" so you just leave that part out.

Had the same issue with my gf. She's all about practicality and saving money. Mine was easy to convince though...my last car was a 2 seater convertible with zero trunk or cargo space.

When I picked her up from the airport in the new Mini convertible and threw her bags in the boot and showed her a still empty back seat, she saw my point.

Then we drove down to the keys and averaged about 38 mpg compared to my last car which would average about 24 or 25 mpg on the same trip.
