my first post

I am on the verge of purchasing a new MC. I want to ask how many members here are over 58 years old. I want one of these cars but it seems that this is a younger crowd. All my children are grown and the practical needs for space and seating are no longer in play. This is my only reservation to taking the plunge.

I am not over 58, but after reading comments here and there it seems that there are mainly more drivers who are 30+ (I guess part of that is the cost).

The MC is fun to drive for all ages and the fact that your children are grown up and don't have the haul them around is even better when getting a MC.

I say go for it! You are going to love this car! Have you taken any for test drives yet?

I spent a saturday taking test drives. I thought that realizing how small it really was and how uncomfortable I would be would get it out of my system and I would then purchase a more sensible car. The opposite occurred. The driving experience was everything I thought it would be and now my wife is pushing to buy one as well.

Personally, I would rather have more control of the vehicle than the have a very smooth ride, it's part of the fun!

Look at other cars and try your best to sway your mind, I'm not sure if it will change your mind though Good luck, if you do get a MC, you won't be disappointed.

Ooops, well welcome to the addiction .

My husband has coveted my MINI for years, so he brought home his '11 Countryman a few weeks ago. I just picked up my '11 MCS (my '06 was totaled the week he bought his CM). My husband is in your age bracket, and there are plenty of others here. That is one of the things I love about this car, it brings together such a broad age group. I have met some great people at MINI events and have a great time seeing what all the young turks get into, and then seeing the older group with more disposable income go all out. My 19yo son will probably be the next in the family to get his own MINI, I can't wait .

Many 50+ folks driving MINIs and that includes my wife and myself. You're never too old to have a fun car to drive. Life's too short to waste driving around in an appliance.

I frequent Porsche and BMW forums too, but Miniacs are by far the most diverse group I've run into. My wife bought an '06 MC last year. Now I can't get them out of my mind, so I test drove a new one this past week. Don't know where we'll put a 5th car though. We're in our 70s.

47 here, Kleiman. Most of the MINI owners that I have met at events are 30/40+. Pull the trigger. I promise that you won't be sorry.

I'm 62, and this is my second, my first was an '03 JCW.

Don't worry about your age, if it's the right car for you, just buy it and enjoy it.

I just turned 58 in Feb. and just bought a used '06 Cooper S (6 spd) this week. It has been a "where have you been all my life?!" experience. My wife and I drove to a NJ shore point (100 me. round trip) and we both agree that the ride was great. A couple (around the same age) pulled up beside us at a White Castle and bemoaned the fact that their 2010 MC was not as fun to drive as the '06.

I would go for it. My Wife and I each have one. Hers a cabrio justa auto and mine a MCS. We are your age and we still love our Mini's. These are our second set including an Austin mini rhd. Like some others have said, drive several other cars that you like, and then make your choice. Good lck and let us know what you did.

59 here! Get a MINI and enjoy it. I have had mine for 2 years now and I know it was the right choice. We have a larger car (BMW X3) wife drives. So I have a larger vehicle when needed. But the MINI is just plain fun!!!

That's definitely something that's cool about the MINI community. There are enthusiasts of ALL ages.

I'm 40 and was gonna get a new Mustang GT but once I test drove a MINI it's all I wanted and all I will ever have. Trying to talk the wife into trading her car in for a Countryman. I've got the fever bad! You will love it people ask me everywhere I go about mine.

Hi
Waiting for my Pure Red Countryman. Due to be delivered to the Port of New York on Wed. I wanted a MINI since it was introduced to the US.
Well I getting one and I am 63. It's more than a car. Its a total life experience as this site demonstrates with its many forums and good people.
GO FOR IT!!!!
Barry
