Nah, he's pulling your leg! It's just a regular wave, or flash your lights or both!

I think it might be a secret because I wave to 5 MINIs a day and maybe get 1 or 2 waves back a week. Maybe they don't know about it. Most likely they don't see me and are having enough time driving with their cataracts in the left lane while trying to make a right turn.

Yeah, people use to wave more... but now there are so many MINIs on the road, and it seems there are far fewer enthusiasts versus average drivers these days. I still try to wave to other MINIs when I can, but I rarely get waves back anymore. Like Dave said though, it isn't really secret. People just wave in any variation they like... just a normal wave or lifting fingers from the wheel in acknowledgment. Motorcyclist do this too, btw. And I am sure some other groups must as well.

There's a section in the "Unauthorized Owner's Manual" with a handful of different waves and what they mean. You can find that in the Owners Lounge where the online Owner's Manuals are located.

I will when I start driving mine. I do it when I drive my Roadtrek all the time. It's just my way of saying - smart person! Way to go!

With so many used Mini's on the road, they don"t get the tutorial from the MA/dealer that new car buyers get. I wave at all Mini's I see and maybe get a 25% response rate. I won"t stop though. I flash and wave to be sure. Men are more likely to wave in my area. The left hand on the wheel, two finger wave is my favorite - pointer and middle finger together! After the flash......hahaha.

I have the same problem around here. Victoria has a lot of retirees and a lot of them drive Coopers. They are not interested in waving back or don't notice. Usually it's older ladies. Sometimes the men wave back though. I still wave every time.

I live in Billings Montana and we have a number of Minis. I get a wave back most all the time, which is nice.

Yes, there is a secret wave, but they can't use it because then it wouldn't be secret anymore. I have a top secret cryptographic security clearance and they still won't tell me what it is. They say I don't have the need to know.

Just wave anyway you like, flash the lights, beep the horn, or turn on the the windshield washers (which means you're excited to see another MINI).

If your buddy owns a MINI and you don't, but he still told you about the "wave", then we must kill him......along with you.......

There's one. It's the middle finger.

There's gotta be a wave for when I'm driving my F150 that says "My other car is a MINI". Just last Sat. I passed two, one an Austin Cooper the other a Clubman. Just watched 'em go by with a ho-hum. . I always wave or blink the headlights.

You will need to be logged in to the Owner's Lounge on mini website. Then click on link for "Your Mini". Then you'll see an "Owner's manual" link. Here's the link, but it probably won't work unless you are logged in.

I save this special wave for the people who dare to make fun of my MINI.

Hey jsjohnson, I can't log onto the owners lounge because it doesn't recognize my VIN. Being in Canada does have it's problems. Oh well, I'll just have to wait 'till he gets here, then read fast.

Try this, Buck. http://www.scribd.com/doc/16153399/T...rs-Manual-MINI

Just zoom in more so the text is legible.

Hope this helps,
John
