What kind of transmission fluid should I use? There appears to be two automatic transmissions used in the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S models.
One is the Steptronic 6 speed automatic, the other is the CVT. I believe the MINI Cooper S has the Steptronic 6 speed automatic. Mine has paddle shifter levers on the steering wheel. I can manually shift in the SD mode, which is when I move the floor shift lever to the right, although if I don't choose to shift using the paddle levers on the steering wheel, the transmission will automatically do so at a higher RPM than if I leave the floor shift lever in the normal mode. Should I use D4 ATF Redline fluid, or should I use Red Line CVT fluid? Another possible choice I've been told is Bilstein Febi A/T fluid. How much fluid does it take to change it, even though it seems they would have you believe it doesn't ever need changing. I have 93,000 miles on the car. Also, what about changing the filter? Is there a different filter for the two transmissions?

Do NOT use CVT fluid. It is not correct for your car.
