Hello! Fairly new owner of 2004 MCS 40

I have a 2004 MCS 40 & the passenger window does not go down. I have done some research on the web & have tried the simple stuff to fix this temp. & buy yourslef a little more time. However, I am now at a point where I want to try the repair myself for the Mini Dealer wants 4 hours of labor @ 100 per hour plus the parts. If this repair has been documented by anyone in the past I would appreciate it if some one could pass it along.

Thanks,

Ty

Have you tried the "Fonzie Method" to kick start your window? I too have an '04 and my pass. window refuses to go down from time to time. Simply make a fist and give your door a whack or two above the lower speaker on the door.
Give it a try before replacing the motor assembly.

Hello! Fairly new owner of 2004 MCS 40

Dave, hi! yes I have done this as I informally noed I have tried the short term fixes for this & they do not work anymore. Thus I am quite sure I will need to buy the new motor & regulator as I believe they are sep. items. Recommendations I have seen say that if you tear the door apart replace both components.

Say where are you located? Your Mini looks pretty sharp. Do your mods. equate to a Stage 2 or Stage 3 Upgrade Kit? I have a Stage 2 Kit on mine. Suppose to push about 220 HP, but I have not had it on a Dino to confirm (second owner). Ty

Welcome to the forum, yes it soundsa like some new parts will be required. I've never done this on a MINI, but did on my Camaro and its a real PITA.

You can do it your self and save, it's not that hard just your time. Get the part from dealer or on line, google window regulator 2004 mini. There was a how to on this site here is the link. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_to_ins...ulator_install
