NEW 2011 MCS "Canadian" Owner (arriving next wk) loaded with Nav/Connected....

Hi Everyone,

Happily looking forward to picking up our new MCS next week and to officially "join the club."
My wife fell in love with pepper white and actually really wanted a 2010 mayfair but I talked her into waiting for a 2011 (I wanted the refresh; connected/nav, extra hp, new dash is great, etc...). So, here we are about to pick up our new toy next week.

What I am curious about is if there are any other (Canadian) owners out there running a 2011 with nav/connected?

I know that you cannot yet get the nav/connected in the US but can in Canada. I am bothed puzzled and worried. Puzzled as to why you can order this setup in Canada but not U.S. and worried that our 2011 will end up with the old dvd-based nav system. I am going to call the dealer again tomorrow and see if I can get a straight answer but if it arrives with the old system I am going to be *choked*
Non-DVD based NAV was a big part of our justification for spending the extra $$ ... I am less than impressed with the DVD based nav in my BMW.

Anyway, if anybody can help with some answers/comments I would appreciate it.

Cheers!

Hi, I'm from toronto. I will pick up my 2011 MCS with Nav at the end of Nov. I have tried the new Nav system at the dealership showrroom, I would say it's harddrive based system since it's about same system with my 2011 bmw x5's which is harddrive based too.

Don't worry

If it's a 2011 it'll get the 2011 system. The only reason we haven't yet gotten the system yet has something to do with the US version of the MINI connected app. It sounds like we are able to place orders for the nav/connected system now, although our configurator is not yet up to date.

Fairly certain nav will be DVD based... one more sleep until confirmation...

Hi, I was told by my dealer it would be DVD-based. However, I called another dealer and he initially said it was HD-based but called back to apologize and that is indeed DVD. Anyway, we're picking the little beast up tomorrow so I will be sure to let you know what in fact are the details

As I mentioned, we loaded it up so if anyone has questions about anything I will do my best to help out with answers/pics.

One more sleep...

Cheers!

Thank you! Yes, it is not a big deal just confusing that a straight answer is difficult. I've found this to be the case with BMW though; the subtle differences between the U.S. and Canada (I guess pricing is not so subtle) is enough to drive me mad! Oops, can't get that option... Only in the U.S. ... Oh, want the viper stripes? Sure but that has to be dealer installed here in Canada and oh it's therefore 5x the price.

This will likely be the last car I purchase in Canada as long as our dollar is anywhere near parity.

It's the little things you know?

Don't waht to get off topic....

Since this is an introduction section, I don't want to get off topic with the Nav stuff... I've replied to another user and are debating the 2011 Nav here:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-2011-nav.html

Anyway, excited to be officially joining the club later today!! I'll throw up some picks when we pick it up!

Cheers!
