Ordering

What's the usual wait time from day ordered to build day/date? I'm sure it's a variable experience, but what's everyones' experience been? Thanks!

I was told 12 weeks in current market, but looks to be less, but I was slipping in just as 2011s are arriving on lots, so it really hasn't ramped up (production on these, what, starting in August or so?)...

Years ago it was a 9-12 month wait, depending on dealer allocation. A lot has to do with the dealer's philosophy about addressing custom orders. Back in 06, the attitude around here at some shops was to fully order the max allocation each month, and special orders went to the back, which is crazy, given how much the MINI demographic enjoys customizing. In comparison, a competing dealer always held 1-2 slots open each production week for last minute orders. These days it's far less aggressive, I think. But it's early yet with all the Countryman excitement...

My dealer used one of his allocations and designated it as "priority 1" so it is treated as a paid order for an actual customer (I think? As opposed to just a dealer order). It took 4 days from order to get into production. I'm hoping a 5-6 week total wait until delivery.

The time between order and production starts can vary widely. If you get a "dealer slot", it's usually 2-14 days. Mine was 7, others have been 2, some went a month (but they were JCWs which got started later due to manufacturing delays).
As far as the time between ordering, or even finishing production, and delivery is way to dependent on a lot of variables. If you're on the West Coast, it will take much longer (by about 2 weeks) to ship it over. You're also at the mercy of the shipping companies, the weather, the VDC, how quick your dealer turns it around, etc.
It's seemed like east coast people are seeing 4-5 week turn around, midwest is 5-6 weeks, west coast is 6-8
