perserverance is rewarded!

after princeton mini contacted me on monday, i can finally say that i will be the owner of a sparkling silver hardtop mini cooper, with sports stripes, in a matter of days---finally!!!!

i have bit the bullet by deciding that the deal was too sweet, that its worth putting my altimas lease payments into the new mini select payments, because the monthly price of the mini is a $30 savings, i am going to be going over the mileage during the wrong time of the year to buy another car, i am out of warrantee on the lease, im going to need tires, and i only have to put $1000 down, 1.9% financing for 60 mos.

i am now waiting to see if they can take an extra $50 off the sports stripes. i was surprised to see that they cost $495 for stripes and installation! gratefully, they want me to split the cost costing me $250.

i am pushing it for them to take off another $50. what do i have to lose? all they can say is "no," right?

or am i getting ripped-off? do these stripes cost this much? can i get them for much less? am i being impractical?

You can get stripes much less from your local vinyl and graphics outlet, my guess is one third of what the dealership is charging..

i think the reason why theyre not throwing in the stripes for free is that they are already coming down $1000 off sticker.

i was thinking about walking if they didn't throw in the sports stripes, but my friend says that they have already taken a grand off and theyre now going half on the stripes. i didnt realize how much more expensive they are, labor wise, than the bonnet. the bonnets are easy to put on; the sports stripes are more laborious, salesperson said. i also know that i could've gotten the bonnets thrown in because they're cheaper.

i will think about it some more.

You can get stripes front and rear for $200 or less. Get them elsewhere.
