Love the Mini

My wife and I bought an 05 convertible, Black and chrome LOVE IT. We had it about 3 months when the top quit working.(used car) I looked for answers everywhere. No Mini dealer in northern Indiana. Called one in Indy and without looking at it they told me I was looking at around five to six grand for repairs. Long and short, I found a Shop in northern Indiana,(FT. Wayne) the guy loves Mini's. Ours was the first convertible he had worked on. He works on some pretty high end cars. He new the cables were broke and and was pretty sure he could repair it. He got our Mini back on the Road with a working top for less then half of what the dealership quoted. This included a new cassette from Mini and all the labor. If anyone is interested in the name and you are near northern Indiana, Let me know and I will get it to you.

Congratulations on getting a fix for your MINI for a reasonable price, you were lucky to find a MINI knowledgeable mechanic close to home.

Thank you for the comments, This is a great place to find a lot of tips, already fixed a seat, learned to reset the oil change counter, and got help on replacing brakes. It was shear luck that I found a mechanic in town, I just happened to be doing a job outside his shop and noticed all the convertibles. Figured it was worth shot. Convertible repair is a little outside my comfort zone.
