Yep, I just decided to leave them off since I'm having custom stripes put on by Aesthetic Creations while we're at the Dragon. I'll be driving around with a "nekkid" MINI for a while, but that's fine.

My first big delay!
I just got back from my dealer who's an hour and a half away, he says my new JCW won't be in until mid April now! What a disappointment! I'm just going to have to put it out of my head until they call me when its in, this is nuts!

Fitting in
Quote: What happened? Mine took a long time too...I am picking her up on Thursday. Hang in there. Go leafs go!
The dealer says that because mine is being built by Cooper they have to wait until there is a spot on the BMW line to fit it in. I'm not sure what that means , but hopefully I wont have to wait much longer than that. I'll be in Mexico for a while anyway, so the wait won't seem that long.

HI! I'm a former MINI owner that used to hang out at another forum long time ago when we had a Solid Gold/Black 2005 MINI Cooper. I had to trade it in on an Escape, though after I got pregnant unexpectedly (we had two other children as well).

I am currently in Japan with two of our children while he is deployed. We will be back in the States around June 1st.

Well, hubby called me from Afghanistan to surprise me-- he just ordered my 40th birthday present! He went into my MINI USA configurator and took the specs I had there of the Cooper I wanted to get in a year or two (I was trying to be good since we just paid off our vehicle).
The deposit just went through on the account and I am almost embarrassed how excited I was to see BMW of SAN ANTONIO listed.

Here are the specs he sent in for me.... I'm just giddy! We bought off the lot last time and he picked the color even though it was my car...this one is ALL MINE!!! Now Im just nervously waiting to get my VIN number!

Yeah! He used a couple of free phone calls to talk to the MA, and when they had phone difficulties after he put in our deposit, he got on Skype with me and I talked to the MA on the phone and the MA could hear from from teh computer, too.

I hope the VIN number comes soon. haha

Mojodiva, you need to go read the first sticky in the 1st Gear Forum. You should get a production number from your MA within a day or 3. Then sign up for the Owner's Lounge on MINIusa to "track your baby". Once your MINI is in production you can click on "Your MINI" and click on Service Log to find your VIN number. You'll need the VIN to track it if it ends up on a WW ship, otherwise the production number is fine to use when you call 1866ASKMINI. Calling ASKMINI and getting a live person on the phone is the most up to date info up until your MINI is actually on a ship, once it's on a ship your MA and online shipping company info is where you go.
Good luck and Welcome Back!

"Cooper" is the name of the car built by MINI. All MINIs are built at the MINI plant in Oxford England. There is no "BMW line" involved. Your dealer seems more confused than you. What happens is that your order is placed and received at the factory. Since the factory is already producing cars for dealers and custom orders, yours has to wait its turn. Once it hits the assembly line, it takes about 8 days. As BoCRon said, you can get a production number from your dealer and then track the progress online. This is usually a little behind. Estimate 2-3 months (sometimes more depending of your location) of sometimes agonizing waiting.

buckland, your MA is full of beans. He's just rattling off nonsense it sounds like to me.
Sounds like their dealership used up their allotments for the near future, or don't have many to begin with and you are just at the end of their line. You could call your MA or the manager and see if you can take one of their existing slots if they have one. Believe it or not, some MAs don't know that this is an option. When I ordered my most recent MINI I put the order in by email late Thursday night, my MA called me at lunchtime the next day and told me he put mine in an existing build slot for the following Tuesday and it was in and finished the following week! Of course it waited for a ship for about a week, but at least it was built.

Anyone know how long it takes, on average, to get through the VDC? Our Mini has been at the Baltimore VDC since last Thursday night and OL still says at VDC.

I agree with BoCRon/Annette about the slots. My MA was new and had no clue (Boo-woo! I'm a rhyming fool!) so I turned to the manager who went on the factory's website where she was able to secure a much earlier slot that was originally destined to be a Justa-Cooper. It saved me at least a month so it took 2 months total from order to pick-up. I suggest that you contact your sales manager ASAP.

Too much...like mid 40's. I did get some off the top from dealer and the March incentives are solid. Not for everyone, but I owned a 2008 clubman s and I loved getting behind the wheel every time I sat in her. It's tough to quell the fever once you get the mini bug. I expect I will love this car. I pick her up tomorrow!

My build was completed yesterday. An ASK MINI customer service rep said it's awaiting transport. I sure hope it's on the next boat to Baltimore!
