Hey... I just got my Mini two wees ago... so far its been in the service department more than it's been on the road.. 1st the check engine light came on, apparently some sort of evap problem (vapor system not pressurizing), so the dealer "took everything apart" couldn't find the problem & just cleared the code. Within days of picking it up it began making popping noises when you stop or turn it off, they are getting progressively louder & more of them are happening (went from one to more than seven times). The dealer tells me this is normal... if it was normal why didn't it happen before the check engine light issue.

Has anyone had this issue, is it normal?

 

Sounds pretty normal. My MINI does this along with many others I've read on NAM here. Sounds like your car is farting right? Do a search. Don't quote me but it is the fuel system balancing its pressure?
