JUST BOUGHT A 2010 MINI COOPER S CONVERTIBLE IN INTERCHANGE YELLOW...MY WIFE AND I LOVE THE COLOR WITH THE BLACK BONNET STRIPES...LOOKS REAL COOL. AM WONDERING HOW MANY "MAINE" PEOPLE OWN A MINI, AS I DON'T SEE TOO TOO MANY OF THEM. ALSO WHERE DO THEY GO FOR SERVICE?

If you own a 2010 you should take advantage of the free Mini service at Mini of Peabody. If it's something minor, I would bring the car to Autowerks on Route 1 Freeport.

Waz Up? Throttle body or Bypass valve?
Well.........Here I am!
2005 S with 63K. Alta air diverter, Alta Intake, 15% pulley, and to top it off, a Miltec exhaust.
I had a perfect Mini before this little problem.
I was on the way to replacing my old set of tires, So I dropped the clutch, and shed s little rubber for fun. I waited for the new shoes, and then off I went. I found myself getting to speed on the freeway, then Christmas lights were on full display on the dash, and Betsy died......and off to the side. I did the famous 5 key re-start, and I was motoring again. Not to long, and a little extra gas, and I was off to the side again. I made it home going with the egg above the gas pedal method. I gave a call to my famous tuner, and Mini expert, and he suggested the Throttle body could have put it into limp mode. It was confirmed with code that it indicated the throttle body was the culprit. Well....my aftermarket insurance advised me it was not covered because it was " Part of the emission system". So I went searching for maybe another Mini owner that experienced this after a minor flogging to speed. I was advised that the Bypass valve could sometimes loose spring strength, therefore creating the my present problem. I was wondering if I reset the computer, it might blank out the code, and therefore starting as before. My question is: Has anyone experienced this malady besides me? I will take any input before I dive into a costly repair. Bye the way, if I bought the Mini insurance contract, no question repair.....Thanks
