After 30 years of owning pickup trucks I finally got a MINI. I was lobbying for a Harley, but my sweetie said "1- You're 70, a bit too old for another big bike, 2- I'd never ride on a bike any way, 3- Your friend Tom recently lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, and 4-I'd love riding in a convertible sports car."

We tested a 370Z convertible but felt it was way more car than we wanted, so we looked at the MINI's and fell in head over heels in love with a pepper white MCS convertible. I opted for the automatic because I don't want to work hard in San Francisco traffic. The auto is turning out to have been a good choice, although if I was 50 years younger I'd have gotten the 6 speed.

We've been tooling around the country between Sacramento and Napa/Sonoma and loving the views and the breeze.

I love the gas mileage and the easy parking, but especially the way it gives me the option of absolutely rocketing away from a light, and then zipping around corners like the laws of motion are temporarily suspended. It's just a totally cool ride. Later this week I'll motor down to the bay for some sailing and take the long, winding, hilly way. Sailboats and sports cars - as good as it gets.

I tell people that my MCS R57 is my Harley. I have had it almost a year and still look for excuses to drive the MINI. Most fun car I've ever had. Congrats and enjoy your MINI (sounds like you are!).
