Bought my Mini today!

I traded in my 01 Corolla for a 03 MCS today. I've had the car for all of 6 hours so far, and I'm super stoked. I just discovered this site about an hour ago and I'm already loving it.

So help me out here... What do I need to know about my new obsession?

-Jer

BTW: Here's a picture from the lot. I guess mod #1 is removing the lettering on the front wind shield.

supercharger whine is a good thing you can't ever get enough of. :D

I found this site after I test drove an '02 that was having what I told the bmw/mini dealer was "throttle lag" (yo-yo syndrome), found out it was fixable, then found an '05 with mostly every option (no hk/nav or chrono dash pack, oh, and no JCW)

My advice, take your time and research your mods. I am very happy with my car, but having said that, I did everything within two months or so of purchasing it and A, hindsight being 20/20 I would have done some things differently, and B, especially with performance and handling mods, you don't get to enjoy the benefit, or notice what each change did if you do them all at once. But congrats, it's a great car!!

2 questions:

What does it mean to 'clay' your mini? I assume that's some sort of wax product?

Stripes are definitely a must!!! There is the thread in the 'how to' section on applying some type of stripe decal. Is this how's normally done? Is this how it would come from the factory?

Appreciate the responses so far...keep it coming!

Claying the car removes the surface imperfections...there are many different posts on here that get into a bit more detail...there are even instructional videos on YouTube on how to go about doing it.
There are also many different types of stripes. If you have patience you can install vinyl to your car on your own (except roofs...in which an extra hand or two come in 'handy'). Go to AestheticCreations or MiniFlags to see a whole array of stripes.
Welcome to the NAMily, and congratulations on a great purchase!

Thanks moodylewdd for the tips and I also appreciate the cheapskate thread mrjasey. Some fun ideas it there.

So is there a way to found out what options the car came with from the dealer?
