Things to do while waiting for your MINI

I thought i'd shift out of "neutral" here and ask others what I can do while I'm waiting for my MINI. I can't track it - it's at the VDC!

So I've been...

Shopping for accessories
Reading the forums here and on the MINI OL
Educating myself about clear bras

Any other ideas to keep me from going mad?!

I found my local mini motoring club and touched base so when I have my car I will know if any trips are coming up. And also getting to know the people.

Names?

I've started thinking of names for my MINI. I've been calling it my little monster, so I thought of Oscar or Sulley. Not committed to anything since I haven't driven him yet.

Also, I may get a vanity plate for the bugger. But I'm not sharing those until I see if I can secure the one I want in Pennsylvania!

Same here, believe me! Mine isn't quite at the VDC yet but the wait has been driving me batty. I've been:

researching paint care
shopping for detailing stuff
considering tint levels
drooling over accessory goodies
pondering Mototune's break-in advice
reading all about premium gas
finding the best stations in my area
putting together a checklist for delivery

...and of course tracking my vessel incessantly.

Prolly doesn't help cos I bet you've been doing the same thing, right?

fox220,

Have you signed up at the Owners Lounge yet? They have some interesting "how to" videos you can watch. Also, download the Owners Manual for your Mini so you'll know more than your Motoring Adviser - actually MUCH more!

1. Establish a campsite at the dealership.
2. Make yourself a pest with the MA, receptionist, Sales mgr. whoever.
3. After a few days of this nonsense maybe they will dispatch someone to the VDC to liberate your MINI to get rid of you, or perhaps they will have you arrested!

Yes, I've explored the OL thoroughly. Particularly enjoyed the videos of operating various features. I ordered a 2010, and they haven't posted the manuals for them yet. Maybe it's the same as the 2009... but maybe it's NOT!

Double Post

Wow, a double, as in two-in-a-row. You must be seriously bored, . My first MINI order just changed from "en route" to "at the distribution center". I am VERY excited!

I've been monitoring the local Michigan Motoring Club site; ordering some merchandise; gathering mechanical/detailing information; all that stuff. My Christmas list will be expanding to include MF towels and such.

Also considering a local detailer to install the 3M clear bra. Worth the quoted $795? I don't know. Open to opinions.

shop for aftermarket goodies would be number 1 in my short list

pick up some nice car care products

look for mini "specialists" in your area just in case you need some "stuff" done to it

oh yeah make sure you get wheels and a drop

I was quoted the same at my dealer.. it did include bumper, hood front and mirrors as well. Same product (3M)... I was told by many, esp in my area to get it, worth the investment for protection. Not sure if can get cheaper elsewhere?

Buncha great ideas here, keep 'em coming...
I already made arrangements for my tint, and researched for a bike rack... need to look into some care products.

I also started collecting everything having to do with my car....brochures and such....even printing out the info on the owners lounge each time it changes and sticking it in a big envelope (and dating it).....along with my "motoring guide" I received in the mail from mini, and a few other emails I've recieved from my MA.

'meh.....seems to keep me busy..

Oh....and I been practicing my English accent....

Tallman,

I'm awaiting my second MCS and I was amazed at all the rock chips on the front of my '07 MCS. It was almost as bad as my 11 yo BMW. So, I am definitely going to get the 3M protection for this MINI.

I was just quoted $675 + tax in the Philadelphia area. this includes extended hood, mirrors, bumper, and lights. Primary product (everything but lights) is ClearShield. www.xpel.com. The owner/installer gave me an awesome education about how computer cut kits are better than film that comes on a roll.

Definitely a necessity in AZ in my opinion.. my last 2 cars have had it.

These are the best guys in the valley IMHO.. I'm sure the local N Scottsdale dealerships all use them. GREAT work, and great people. They'll be doing my car when it arrives.

Free T-shirt

Wow,.....a free shirt, ^ .
I just checked. There are 968 pages, with 24,184 posts. Certainly quite a few. Tempted, but, ummmm, I have enough shirts right now.

b13mini, and Tas, thanks for your words. Pretty much sealed the deal for me. In the past, I have always purchased that little bottle of touch-up paint. Obviously, I am **** about the appearance of my vehicles. Now, I can afford to splurge on a better appearance presentation.

My MINI is off the "en route" stage. As of this morning, it is "at the distribution center". Things are speeding up now.....

Tonight's the night! I'm picking up my MINI in 2 hours.

Potential name list: Sulley, Oscar, Glen, Clyde

Paint protection is being done tomorrow morning at 8:30am!
