One Month of Ownership: 2006 Space Blue JCW
One Month of Ownership: 2006 Space Blue JCW
As of tomorrow, October 21,2009, I will owned my 2006 John Cooper Works tuned Mini for a month and I've put just over 2,000 miles on it. This is my 35th car and probably the most fun I've had with a car. All it wants to do is go faster and faster!
My only complaint is that its not getting the greatest of fuel mileage even when I'm 'easy on the pedal'. I'm getting about 26mpgs out of this tank w/mixed driving - the best has been 31.2 driving to FL a few weeks ago. After I exit the Interstate, I got on some secondary roads where there was VERY LITTLE stopping and the speed limit was between 60-70 mph. The worst was 25mpg driving from FL to Maryville, TN but in the car's defense, the onboard computer said my average speed was 78 mph.
The car was a total impulse purchase. I have a 2005 Mecedes C230 Kompressor sedan and I didn't need another vehicle, but I missed shifting my own gears.
2006 Mini Cooper S
John Cooper Works tuning package
Space blue
Cordoba beige soft leather sport seats
Anthracite headliner
6spd
Harmon Kardon sound system
Navigation
Park Distance Control
18" JCW wheels w/Runflats (I'm ditching the RFs when these wear out)
Sport tuned
Factory carbon fiber hood scoop, rear hatch spoiler, side mirror caps, and dash
The previous owner gave me the cargo 'pod' that attaches to the roof rack (I'll never use it), the bike rack that goes into the 'sport tuned'...err..umm...'thingymaboggomer'
, a brand new Mini cooler that plugs into the power outlet, a Mini car cover that's never been on the car, and a new case of Mini oil. My only future plans for the car are to get the windows tinted ASAP and perhaps adding bluetooth (Probably parrot) to the car.

Thanks! I'm really diggin' your Chocolate Clubman as well. Its like a shiny piece of chocolate with wheels.
I've not seen a Clubman up close (Minis seem to be less populous in Kentucky) but I like the looks of the double doors and probable cargo room. I keep saying I don't have anywhere to "put the bodies" in my Mini.

I have an appointment to get my windows tinted in the morning. I'm pretty excited because by the time I got around to tinting the windows on my previous cars, I got bored and started looking for something else.
Glad to hear.
I certainly didn't buy the car to use as an 'econo car' but I was a little worried that there might be some sort of issue with it. I always use Premium gas, but I'm experimenting with which 'brand' I'm going to stick with it. Before I got a chance to fill it up after my initial purchase, I left in it for vacation and haven't gotten a 'feel' for how its going to do with the local stations. Under practically the same driving conditions I've noticed a 2+ mpg loss with Chevron than say with Pilot or shell.
I'm still 'experimenting' so there's plenty of time to do more research and see what's what.

Congrats and great pics. Love the space blue! I am not quite a one month owner of a 2007 Cooper S convertible (6- speed dark silver with a plethora of pretty, shiny chrome-Love it!!!!!!) and am getting similar mileage to what you are getting. I have been trying to track it on the fuel usage function which always says I'm getting better mileage than I am. Oh well, while I SAID gas mileage was a selling point, in truth it was all about the look and style and how much fun it is to drive!

If you go to your Control Panel, you'll see a link on the left to "Edit Signature". Just fill in the info you want to use.
If you need help, feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to offer assistance!
