My New Baby is Critically Injured
I'm sad for the MINI but it's good you're ok. Cars are easier to fix than people.
I had my MINI in an accident in the spring, rear ended and pushed into a vehicle in front, with similar milage to yours. If they decide to fix your MINI just make sure you are 100% happy with it, and get them to redo things that aren't up to your satisfaction.
things will work out, eventually.

My insurance company hasn't called me yet, but the shop that it's at did.
Long to story short it has some frame damage but they don't want to total it. I don't want a new vehicle with frame damage. No tell what problems will occur because of it. Plus I will have no re-sale or trade-in value because it has been wrecked.
I'm just sick.

If they said there's frame damage but *don't* want to total it, I would suggest taking it to a different shop for a second opinion. I'm with you--I wouldn't want a vehicle with that potential problem.
I wonder if I have any recourse?
When a crashed my Mini the shop said there was frame damage but it could be fixed for about $10,000. However, once they pulled up carpeting to look closer they found the pan bent near a seat belt mount. At that point, it was a safety issue and the insurance company would not fixed the car. Car was totalled for $28,600.
Make sure that the estimator looks very closely. Many times they do not make a very accurate initial estimate and figure once they have the work they can add onto the estimate. That is fine if you really want the car fixed but if not, you need a good estimate from the start so a realistic detemination can be made to total the car based on the high repair cost, which means you need a detailed estimate.
Make sure that the estimator counts every little thing. Push for them to estimate matching parts that are not damage but should be replaced as a set. For example, if one front strut needs to be replaced then the other side should be replaced (I would even argue for all four replaced) because shocks should be replaced as a set. Most estimators will only include the damaged part in the estimate. The insurance company might argue that for a low mileage car only the damged part needs to be replaced but I would still fight for all. Same goes for brakes, if one front needs to be replaced the other side should also be replaced.

Yama Cat,
Keep your head up throughout all this frustration. And it seems you are by sticking to your guns against your insurance co. They're not the ones to dictate where to take your vehicle, especially Schroeder. You've acted like a true parent.
Yesterday was a week that I've picked up Acacia and we've already reached 1200 mile mark. I drive across and throughout NYS regularly, and these past few days have taught me the real meaning of Happy Motoring. Simultaneously, reminding of the clueless idiots that shouldn't be anywhere near a steering wheel.
So when your new love arrives, your heart will be healed, and your eyes and instincts will be sharper.
So keep on motorin' baby, just keep on motorin'

No way you MINI should be back on the road without a salvage title. A car with 1700 miles and frame damage is unacceptable. Push on for it to be totaled, and try again with a 2010. Good luck with as your saga continues.
More pictures I took pictures of stuff that was bent.
Maybe someone can tell me what I'm looking at. It will take a week before the collision center can do a tear down.
I will do a lessons learned after this is over. Things you should know and what your insurance company don't tell you.

Rest In Peace Schroeder, my brave little car. Today my insurance company called, after the second inspection, and declared him a Total Loss. I'm sad, but relieved that I don't have to make payments on a wrecked car.
You are easy. Glad it is working out for you.
