Hello from first time Mini owner

New '09 MCS in Pepper White. Premium pkg, cold weather pkg, Sport pkg, auto tranny, auto AC, piano black int.
Bought on 8/9/09 and picked up on 8/12/09.

Loving the car except it has to go back for service. Check engine light came on after 350mi but still drives OK. Going in for service on Wed.

Just like oldchicago said, I would try to gas cap as well.

Don't forget to wave, especially if you see a 2006 JCW Chili Red with white-checkered top in the Newton/Dedham/Cambridge area

Checked the gas cap several times to no avail. Light stays on.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thank you all for the welcoming!

I agree it may be the gas cap. This is the most common cause and sometimes even after you tighten the cap the light will stay on for a while before it resets. Of course with a brand new car it could be some other sensor etc. Congrats on a beautiful new MINI! Happy Motoring

Just a follow-up on the CEL.

Code was CC-ID 031 (excessive emissions) which indicates there may be a leak in the fuel system. My SA thought the system may have detected a very small leak somewhere and turned the light on. They ran some pressure tests and it passed all of them. Error code has been cleared and I'll monitor it and see if it comes back. So far so good *knocks on wood*.

Still loving my new MINI!
