Newbie in Jacksonville, FL

Hi.. Just bought a used 2005. I fell in love with the Mini the day it hit the market. I had to wait til now to get one. Used, but love it just the same. It took me 5 seconds in my test drive 3 weeks ago to realize this car was for me. Soo, in a few years, yes, I will have to wait that long, I will order a new one, Lord willing.
The car has been kept in great shape. Average mileage for the age.
Looking for help on brakes like average life. I am not a serious brake user.
Gas. I saw the thread, I bought mine already having regular being used and I will be switching to premium as soon as I run my first tank out. Yes, still on my first tank.. Love the gas mileage.
UPGRADES!! I don't have alot of money in the upgrade fund, but looking for something I can do that will make my car, my car. Personalization type things. Any ideas???
Any body in JAX on here??? I see a few mini's running around, but not alot like I use to.
I saw on MINIUSA.com that people are using headlight's or waving at other MINI users. Anyone on here still doing that?
Anyway, looking to meet some other MINI owners and network. Wish it wasn't 2 am or I would attempt to go thru all the threads. Looking forward to hearing from anyone.

Mariann

Welcome to the insanity!

Welcome to the insanity!
There are still some of us "MINIacs" who do wave or flash light upon encountering another on the roads, but responders are no longer common.
I will continue to wave as long as I am driving the "Ghost".

As to personalization, one of the less expensive ways is to add badges. I have a "Life is Good" refrigerator magnet and "Hummer Escape Pod" on mine.

So, what model / color is your new toy?

Hello and Welcome to NAM Mariann, the "avg" life of MINI pads and rotors is 50K. I've seen them go at 40K and seen them go at 65K it's really all about how and where you drive. Your MINI does have a dash light that will let you know when you need brakes. There is a sensor on the front drivers side and rear pass side. Once they are toast think about upgrading to a better, lower dust pad.

How many miles are on the MINI?

MrsNelson,

Welcome to NAM-land from MAD-town, WI. (It took me 5 seconds in my test drive 3 weeks ago to realize this car was for me.) I can totally relate to your quote from above, as the same thing happened to me! Check out my gallery to see pix of "Capt'n Jack". We are all awaiting pictures and name, etc. of your new ride.
