We turned a 2 1/2 hour trip home into 5 hours - we kept switching drivers and adding side trips to the route. Within 5 miles of home we met our first Mini of the trip and shared a wave.

Much of the rest of the weekend involved inventing reasons to drive the car.

Congrats!!! Good for you for making sure you got a thorough intro to your car.

Turning a short trip into a long one is something MINI owners sure know how to do!!!

But enough about me - your new S looks fantastic! The black webspokes really look good with that color combination. Why couldn't you have it today?

I just got back from the dealer. My car had already arrived at the dealer last night (5/31) so no pics of it getting off the truck - no biggie.

I took several more pics of my car as well as a MINI E that was parked next to mine waiting to be delivered to another customer. They were delivering 3 today!

I signed my papers and am all set for Friday at 11 am.

Nice pics Must have been really hard to walk away without taking that pretty red baby home with you...You are a better man than me. I am not sure I could have done it .

Thanks!! Yes, I am now LOVING the look of my car! I was worried that I wouldn't like the wheels but I LOVE them!!!

I told my MA to take her time in getting it ready for me. That includes getting the windows tinted. Since it just arrived at the dealer last night there wasn't time. I don't want them to rush anything.

Thanks! It was very hard to leave her there!!! Especially since I had just written a very large (to me) check for the down payment!!!

I want her to be perfect before I take her home so I told my MA that Friday would work best for me even though it probably could have been ready as early as tomorrow. Besides, this way my copilot (son) can go with me to pick her up and we can get "lost" on the way home.

That is very cool...It is great that you can share the experience with your son..

It looks like we will have to wait until Friday as well, even if it is ready earlier because of work schedules. Now we are trying to figure out where we want to go on our first road-trip in our new baby.. Unfortunately the weather is not supposed to be great this weekend so we will have to see. We are hoping that it will be nice enough at least part of the time so that we can do some top-down motoring

I went today to sign all of the paperwork and I finally got to see my car! I can't pick it up until tomorrow though because they have to install the iPod adapter. I got to see it today and it was so hard to leave it. It's gorgeous!!!!!!

My MA told me she was "100% sure rates were not going down". She also said that the current rates were "on the chopping block and that Germany (corporate) wanted to get rid of the deals".

Please take this as you will. She was very confident in what she was saying but, of course, it can not be confirmed one way or another. If I were you I would look into other financing options like Penfed: https://www.penfed.org/productsAndRa...wAutoLoans.asp

Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck to all!!!

indeed... I would get on the horn if you haven't already. Make sure they know that you know approximately where your car is and that you want to know when you can take delivery. Good luck!!!

CThoma - everyone fits in...there are so many people and they just luv these little cars. I don't think you will feel strange at all. There is an event later this month at Little Creek Casino (near Olympia) I noticed a few new people are planning on attending. I only joined a month ago and everyone was so nice to me, I even went to a "Mod" party. Like I know anything about mechanics haha, but they didn't care and answered any question I had.

Well, I *did* order mine before you...

If it makes you feel any better they offered me a possibility of a Tuesday pickup but I opted for a guaranteed Wednesday pickup. Such restraint, I know, I am a model of patience! (okay, I just didn't want to bum rides in to work two days in a row, if I could avoid it)

Now to load up a USB drive with tunes for the Inaugural Drive!

I am happy for you! What is going to be the first song you play? I'm probably gonna go with "Red Barchetta" by Rush.

Okay, that is really funny. I was going to float this question but I thought to myself "Brad, you are the only one obsessive enough to think about what song should be on the radio when you pull away in your new car for the first time."

I have been having a tough time with this "issue." (Quotes because it isn't really that big of a deal, I suppose.) Right now I'm thinking about "The Wanderer" from U2's Zooropa album - if you're not familiar with it, Johnny Cash sings. Maybe it's a little down but I really like the song. I've also been listening to The Cars a lot lately, maybe "Dangerous Type."

"Love is A Stranger" by the Eurythmics?

I'll let you know...

My first song will definitely be Reggae, The top will be open and it will be a sunny day. I'm not picking my MCS cabio up unless it is sunny, Which could be several days or weeks in Pittsburgh!

Others for driving are
Song 2 by Blur
Metallica - Master of Puppets any song
Highway song by Blackfoot
Hot Rod Lincoln by some 70's guy?
Cars would need to be Good times Roll? or Moving in
Stereo?
Led Zepplin - Anything to fit your mood or Moby **** drums solo
Current tunes would be
MOBY - Good tunes for driving with few words
