I'm considering purchase of an '07 MINI (S) that is MINT, but I just discovered that year model didn't include the tres cool door "mood" lights found on '08/'09.
Any idea if that is available as an after-market install at MINI dealers or through 3rd party companies?

make sure its really an '07.. perhaps its an '06?

REALLY? The guy at the showroom says it doesn't have 'em, but he may not know how they operate. Do they include an ON/OFF switch or come on automatically at night? So you're saying they weren't an option but standard feature on '07's??? I'm pretty sure these guys are straight up on it being '07...they're one of the largest dealers in the country for online car sales.

 

They came on 07s, at least Tristan got them (April build). They come on automatically with the headlights, and the switch on the roof changes the colour.

 

All 2007 hatches sold in Canada and the US are R56 models, and they will all have the changeable mood lighting standard; the hue can be changed with one of the overhead toggle switches (on the headliner). A 2007 convertible is an R52 and so will not have the changeable mood lighting (they still get mood lighting but it is one colour - orange to match the dash lighting). So perhaps some confusion on your dealer's part? You'll know as soon as you see the car of course...

 

not an option but standard.

the switch for them is a toggle, just above the rear-view mirror..
there's no on or off.. rather - toggling in one direction will get you to orange, and the other way to blue.

by the way.. i just noticed you are posting in 1st Gen..
2nd Gen begins with '07.. and that's where the mood lighting begins..

Just got my 09 mini! I know that the mood lights turn on with the headlamps but i think my mini has daytime running lights.... or I cant figure out how to turn them off. Will my mood lights burn out from being on all the time?
