2004 MINI S, R numbers

What do the R #'s stand for & where can they be found?. Also my windshield has started a hairline crack, from the driver side top of mirroe going toward the passenger side, any suggestions?,

R50 = Cooper non-S (Coupe)
R52 = Cabrio/ Convertible (S or non-S)
R53 = Cooper S (Coupe)

As for the windshield, take it to the dealer and try to get them to replace it. We had to do that a lot with my 2003 R50 (see above). If they don't wanna fix it for ya, use the age-old nail polish fix for now.
