Deciding btw MC or MCS

Hello All,

I am a long time lurker and finally getting set to buy a Mini but having trouble trying to decide between a loaded MC or Stripped MCS. I would like to have the option of the extra power in the MCS but I like the comforts that comes with an MC. Also I live in the Vancouver, BC so any advice on options that I may want to consider would be a plus. As for color I am going for a black roof and either CR or LiB, or if its the MCS then Laser Blue.

I would buy the MCS myself. If you can afford it.
What comforts come with an MC that the MCS doesn't have?

+1.

The suspension is the same. The seat options are the same. Please clarify.

EDIT: Unless you're talking about comfort related options that you can afford if you get an MC vs. ones you cannot if you get an MCS.

I'd go with an S, even stripped model, just for the sheer joy of it although the Cooper's fun in it's own way. The only option I really recommend is the cold weather package if you live in the north, the heated seats are sooo nice.

Yeah I went to my local Mini dealer, and unfortunately here in Canada there is such a premium on the MCS that I would end up paying 5 to 6 grand more, which I don't have. I was going to add the comfort and and convenience package to get the heated seats, and auto dimming, media connect, electric front window defroster etc and was considering leather seats.

You have to ask you self what you will use more. I have a non S clubman that has every option except leather. My wife wanted the nav and such more that the speed. I just order a s for me after a month or so of going back and forth between a loaded non s with leather and the s with most of the stuff I wanted but no nav. The non s is no slow poke just not the hell on wheels power of the turbo.

I think you just made up your own mind between which one to get

Get the S. The turbo will outweigh whatever creature comforts you get with the non-S.

Just sold our 05 non-S, and one thing to keep in mind is that the non-S is harder to sell and doesn't keep resale value quite as good as an S.

Spoken by a S driver I would guess. It depends on what kind of driving you do.

sacrifice the creature comforts. i'm another non-s owner that recommends an MCS. the MC was so surprisingly fun to drive that now i wish i had more power to really push it on the highways. if i had come across these forums before i purchased, i would have ended up with a MCS for sure. oh well. at least i like my unviolated hood and chrome grill.

Lol, I am actually planning the next mods to be those very same mods. Switching out the hood for a Clubman S hood- basically so I can fit a strut brace as well as wanting a hood scoop. I am debating to myself that the hood scoop should decrease air temp and increase circulation. Since I have an open cone air filter, it should increase performance(maybe this is untrue but I am telling myself that it is :P).

Oh and before that, I'm modding the exhaust to dual tail pipe. :P

oh man. you really should have gotten an MCS, lol, although it's the modding journey that's the fun part.

If I had gotten the MCS though, I'd be filing for bankruptcy with all the mods available for it. :P

Actually, I'd prefer a lightly-optioned MC.....save that extra money for something else.

I never use the extra power offered by an MCS...in fact, for me it gets in the way. I just like how Coopers drive. I also prefer performance in the realm of mpg rather than hp, so again a Cooper is my car-of-choice.

However, if you crave power get an MCS.

I thought the hood scoop was just for show on the R56

I got a MC non S Clubman w/ a lot of options. But I still would have gotten the MCS with all the options as well. To me, it depends how much driving you do and what your exact needs are. I drive one mile to work so the non S was perfectly adequate.
