I am scheduled for week 17... that is this week! I have a completion date of tomorrow the 21st. I am really hoping that it makes a boat quickly!! I totally got into your thread and felt your pain of waiting SO LONG!!! I lived in England when I was 12 and have wanted a MINI since then!! I turned 40 in December and had promised myself I would have it by then. My budget conscious husband overruled and we waited until April to order. I have been stalking the dealership for about three years Now that she is almost on her way I am DYING!!! Very happy for you and your new friend!

Wow, your wait was a lot longer than mine! Where abouts are you? How long is the expected shipping time? Poor motormouth has the record so far I think...

I'm at 970something right now. Prolly be a couple more weeks till I hit that glorious 2000km. Have you gone through your first tank yet? Mmmmm ice cream, I'm grilling up some Indian this weekend, I just might have to get some ice cream for dessert. I love this place and it looks like there's quite a few in your region: http://www.marbleslab.com/

It's pouring out here right now, but the Mini grips very good in the wet. I had to push it quite a bit to get the stability control to come on in areas that my old car would spin the tires. Those auto wipers I got will take some getting used to. Having them change speeds on their own is an odd thing for me.

Sounds like we're about to have two more happy campers in the next few days

By that point, all the goodwill focused on MotorMouth's delivery will make his Mini come off the boat glowing

I'm still waiting on delivery too, but mine came in on the Carmen, Tuesday 4/14/09. So hopefully soon. I guess it takes awhile to get to Washington from California.

Yeah, we have marble slabs everywhere here. They're pretty good, I like that you can get it made to order.

I didn't run down the whole first tank because I had a 3 hour drive back to Calgary and didn't know what my real range was. Only used up 2 wedges before I topped it up to hit the highway. I didn't want to run it at constant highway speed all the way back so we stopped in at every little small town on the way home. Even still it only took 3 wedges on the fuel gauge and the 3rd light only just went out as I pulled into my driveway. I'm impressed at the mileage already!

The strangest thing happened after my break-in period was over..... my mileage decreased. I swear it has nothing to do with pulling up over 5k

I'd be the last since the boat doesn't reach Honolulu until May 1st.

However, I may not be able to get it =(

The economy thing is hitting home right now.

ACK!! That's not good news at all!

As much as it sucks if you can't get your car, I hope that's the worst of it

Sorry to hear that. At least you seem to have your priorities in order. Too many people spending what they can't afford to pay back. Isn't that what got us into this mess to begin with?

Not trying to start a politcal debate here so I'll just say I hope things turn around quickly for you Motormouth.

I have been spending limited time on the PC the ast few days and so have not checked in here for awhile. My B'day was on Saturday and while everything worked out gift-wise..great ! The day started with my 6 year old PC acting up. This happened about a month ago as well...and well that is another story. The gist of it is I bought a Dell PC and it is going thru the web at MINI- Lightening speed (6GB of RAM) ! So....

I now have about 1200 miles on my MINI. I'm averaging about 30mpg with a mix of highway and local/congested travel. Not sure if Cameroon mentioned it in an earlier post but we scheduled and met up at ProForm in Maryland to get the full clear bra. Anyway...that's the news from here ! I see we have a couple still waiting for deliveries....

Motormouth,
Curious where in Hawaii you come from ? Not familiar with your town but guess you are somewhere near Honolulu since your car is there ? I have been to Hawaii a number of times - The Honolulu/Pearl Harbor areas of Oahu, and some of the other islands (Kawaii, Hilo and Kona in Hawaii, Maui - North coast and southern tip). You have some great roads in all of the islands to test ride that MINI !

I haven't given up on getting the JCW yet. It's at the dealer now and even though it's still all wrapped in plastic and the electronics are in shipment mode I really like it (I drove it a bit). Top Ramen for dinner every night is starting to look appealing.

O'larryR - I spent 15 years at Pearl Harbor. The town I live in is pretty much in the center of Oahu. I work in Honolulu hence the ~20k miles/year I put on my MINI which is considered very high for here.
I think the outer islands have some much better roads for motoring than Oahu - too much traffic here. My dream would be to drive the MINI up the volcanoes on Maui and the Big Island or the road to Hana on Maui. Those aren't much fun in a rental car but in a MINI they'd be awesome.

MotorMouth,

I think I was in the Honolulu/Pearl Harbor area about 2 years ago.

20K miles/yr in Oahu - Wow ! Would have thought that would be a commute from clear across the other side ! Many years ago, my wife and I drove the "Road To Hana" (in Maui) which seems to have about 500 curves in it. Even if you drove it in a MINI...not sure how great that would be after an hour or so ! But coming down one of those mountains....that would be nice !

I recall that most of the islands have minimal rain on the perimeter (except perhaps for Hilo, Hawaii). But most have enormous (tropical) rain closer to the center of the islands. Is that also true for Oahu ? If so...then you can be our MINI Monsoon Rain Tester !!

Lease on it is up so it gets turned in within the next 3 weeks.

Crossing my fingers that I'll be in the new one. I don't look forward to driving my pickup again even if it's just for a couple months until a new less expensive MINI comes in. I WILL be in a MINI again. Just hoping it's the one I've been waiting for since November.

The north east side of Oahu is the wet part. Also high in the mountains. It's not too bad where I live. I'm sorta on a plateau between two mountain ranges.
