The Clubman in South Florida

Hi NAM!

This is my first posting. I am glad to part of the "NAM Clubman Family". I have been doing a good deal of reading up on the Clubman Forum, and it had been very informative. I have a good 2 solid months before my Mellow Yellow arrives; the only problem is the more I read, the more I am losing patience.

So here is my first question to those who are lucky enough [like me] to live in wonderful South Florida; How does the Clubman stand up to the Florida Heat? I have heard mixed reviews, but it was with the Cooper and not the Clubman. Better to ask the experts.

Thanks in advance.

Very, very well. I have had mine since February, 7K miles and no problems. Clubman S auto, Hot Chocolate/silver roof.

Purchased in Lauderdale MINI.

Who is your dealer?

These cars have fantastic A/C systems and the heat is a non-issue. My recommendation is to tint the windows (and sunroof if you have one) for added heat protection.

South Florida used to be a nice place to live. This region is too crazy and crime is getting out of hand. Can't wait to someday get out of here.

Thanks ClubmanS

Glad to hear this. I like the Hot Chocolate; it was my 2nd choice to MY. Lauderdale Mini is my dealer as well. The staff is great and I have heard excellent reviews about their Service Department.

I am scheduled to have mine in late February.....counting the days.

This is great to hear. I don't have a Sun-Roof as it makes no sense down here. The tinting is a good idea; does the dealer do this?

I live in Hollywood; work in FLL. Mu glasses must be too Rosy because Crime has actually gotten better in my area. I spent too many years shoveling out my car from high snow in New York and NJ; don't miss that at all.

Well congratulations

I have been a customer of Lauderdale since 2002 (4 new MINIs). Their sales and service staff is the best in the region. For your servicing needs, see my good friend Marc Holstberg (2 time MINI owner). He is the MINI service advisor.

On Sundays at church I have seen a MY/Black Cooper Clubman auto and looks the business

I would not have minded MY, but unfortunately, MINI does not offer it in the Clubman S

I highly recommend you visiting the service department and introducing yourself to Marc. He'll be happy to also introduce you to the guys that will be working on your Clubman for the next 4+ years. Franz Laman is the MINI head tech and he is an extremely knowledgeable guy. I trust my cars to him each and every time.

Lauderdale gives loaners when dropping off the car for service. Either a nice new MINI or an Enterprise loaner. Either way, they'll hook you up.

So what is your final spec? Can't wait to see a single colored Clubman...Most of them either have black or silver roofs.

Thank you for the Welcome!

It's a good time of the year to bring your Mini down to the Beach to warm up while you chill-out! How does your Mini do on snow?

Good, no sunroof here either. There is a guy that is based in Broward and has done the tinting in all my MINIs. The Clubman he did right in the showroom before I picked it up the next day. He uses Llumar window films and has different shades and colors to your taste. $150 for everything and lifetime warranty He is known in Lauderdale MINI already

His company is called Advanced Mobile Window Tinting and his name is Ivan Soto cell (305) 299-6151. Call him and coordinate with him in anticipation to your car's arrival so by the time you pick it up the windows are all taken care of.

In regards to S.FLA... I can't complain I have a nice living here, met my wife here as well (Native Miami) but Dade County is really out of hand. Too bad because I remember how nice this area used to be 20 years ago. I have no desire to live in the snow belt, but I am sure there are alternatives in this vast country of ours. We shall see what happens in the coming years.

Welcome.

I am confused though... why would a sunroof make no sense? We live in the Sunshine State.

Thanks very much for the information. I will definitely introduce myself to both Marc and Franz. I didn't go crazy with the features which is one of the reason's why I bought the car; the standard package is pretty good.

Final Spec's - Mello Yellow with black sport and roof stripes / automatic / HIFI Sound System / Multi-Function Wheel / AR / Auto AC / Bluetooth for USB and iPod.

Too damn hot and humid to enjoy. You guys in Tampa don't get hit as hard with the heat as us south east of the Everglades.

Right now the weather is cool, crisp and the humidity is low, so it is totally sunroof/convertible weather.

But the rest of the year? You can have it.

...I had a sun-roof on previous cars and I always left the cover closed as it baked my head...course it might help to have hair on my head to protect it from the rays...

I like it!!!

I am genuinely excited for you

I ordered my Clubman around this time last year and took deliver late February. Never saw the car in person, much less drove one because they had not yet been introduced at the time. The first Clubman ever I saw in person was ours the night we went to pick it up No regrets to this day!

Ours is also very discreetly optioned... Automatic, front/rear fogs, MFSW, leatherette, gotham grey interior panels, checkered dash, iPod adaptor, 16" Bridgespokes, that's it.

I know what you going thru So, I can offer myself for any questions or inquiries about the car. You are gonna love it.

Fantastic!

Thank you for the information. I have him down to call for the tinting. It's always good to go to the guy the dealer uses.

Regards!
